Stellar Escape is a jumping, sliding, diving action game that somehow makes you come back and play. The game was designed using the Unity3D engine and has very polished graphics.
The graphics in the game are great and do justice to the metallic, space station environment that Elliot is in. Sound effects work well too.
Stellar Escape is another game that costs just over one US dollar in the Android Market and it's a great mobile title that will kill off a few minutes at a time. As you progress through the levels it rates you allowing you to finish off a couple levels here and there with each level being progressively more difficult. In conclusion, Stellar Escape is well worth the price.
As the player progresses through each of nine levels currently on offer in Stellar Escapes regular mode, the traps become more closely packed and elaborately assorted. While familiarity with a level helps immensely in taking advantage of stress-saving warp pipes that transport Elliot safe and sound a few dozen meters down the current hallway, moving traps ensure that later levels never truly devolve into simple affairs in memorization. Challenge builds in a way that gradually familiarizes the player with the proper use for each of Elliots acrobatic techniques, lending the game a perfectly balanced easy-to-get-into, hard-to-master quality. A distance measurement built into the user interface ticks up with each footfall, and the fact that the player knows exactly how much of a level has been completed despite failure makes that Retry button on the Game Over screen consistently tempting.
Aside from the normal mode Stellar Escape offers two infinite modes: one geared toward beginners and another that more seasoned players will unlock midway through the normal mode. Of course these measure OpenFeint scores based on distance achieved before Elliot gets shocked into submission, but players who enjoy challenges that cant be mitigated through level memorization should enjoy them for their randomly generated nature alone.
Running games have really exploded after the massive success of titles such as Canabalt. To stand out you have to find new angles, and developer Orange Agenda hopes that their obstacle course running game Stellar Escape has enough to stand out. Compared to most other running games Stellar Escape has a level structure as introduction with the endless modes as a continuation to gain game life. To me this would be great, if the game had that addictive one more time kind of vibe. The controls in Stellar Escape consist of five touch controls. With five buttons the game turns more into a memory reaction game not far from playing Bop It! or a WarioWare title on a Nintendo machine. Identify obstacle, react, repeat.
The nine story mode levels have set goals for our delivery hero Elliot Black to run, and that is that. In Stellar Escape that is all you get. Then after a slight reduction in income for the current delivery Elliot could climb along the obstacle course.
The presentation in Stellar Escape is nice, and runs along without hiccups. You can play your own music instead, and turn off the in-game music. With in-game music on you also get the vibration whenever Elliot hits an obstacle. The game uses OpenFeint for leaderboards, and a whopping 39 achievements. Stellar Escape is a casual running game that soon feels like a chore. Too many buttons to keep track of makes it less of an exciting casual game, and more of a rhythm reaction game. It will definitely find a crowd of hardcore gamers that will enjoy it, but it is not as addictive as other casual one button running games. You play Elliot Black who works as a courier in the beta sector. Your escape route is filled with different obstacles. You must avoid these obstacles by jumping over, sliding under or diving through them. The controls are like no other game I have seen before. There two buttons to the left of the screen and three buttons to the right. The game play is very simple but very very addictive. At launch, Stellar Escape had 9 levels but they have added 6 more levels with an update. There are also endless-modes so that you do not run out of obstacles to avoid.
