Grand Theft Auto IV, December 2008's PC release of the then fastest-selling console game, was the game with the most unique users connecting through Games for Windows service.

Role-playing and strategy games are well represented by Dawn of War II and Fallout 3 at numbers 2 and 3 respectively. Both games were issued with expansion packs during 2009.

Many console crossovers made the chart, such as Street Fighter IV, Batman: Arkham Asylum, and Resident Evil 5. Xbox 360 console exclusives Halo 2 and Gears of War also appeared in the chart.

Shadowrun was not particularly well received by critics but, like Halo 2, was a launch title for the Games for Windows service back in May 2007 and as such has a large install base. Section 8 is another oddity as although the PC version recieved positive reviews, consumer uptake of the online multiplayer was not considered to be especially high.

The chart is based on global unique users during 2009.
